The Sunshine Award (Update: August 19)

sunshine award01I thank  from Otaku Highschool Life for  nominating me for “The Sunshine Award” which is a way to raise awareness for other Japan-related blogs and to make bloggers socialize by answering and giving questions to each other.

Since I’m lazy, I’ll copy & paste the rules:

1- Thank the person who nominated you.

2- Answer the questions from the person who nominated you.

3- Nominate a few other anime bloggers.

4- Write the same amount of questions for the bloggers you nominated.

5- Notify the bloggers on their blog.

6-Put the award badge (the sunshine award pic) on your blog.

Mangataku-kun’s Questions:

1. When did you start blogging? Explain more in detailed:

I laughed my socks off while reading Kid Fenris’ blog, which was one of the first blogs I’ve came upon when I started using this thing called “internet”. Since then, it has become one of my favorite blogs and it became a huge inspiration for me. Therefore, I tried to make a blog about the stuff I love while using a bit of the style from that blog.

2. What anime you will watch this coming Summer 2015?

I’ll probably give a try to any new anime I can find, but the titles I can’t wait to watch and will do so from beginning to end without skipping anything are: Durarara, Jitsu wa Watashi wa & God Eater.

3. Can you suggest me more Anime, Otaku, Japanese Blogs that I can Follow? (I only followed a few blogs yet including you guys 😦 )

Take a look at my nominees section!

4. Is there any Anime can you suggest me? (Maybe there Animes that I still not yet discovered :3 )

For me, FLCL and Hunter X Hunter are the essentials, but there are too many awesome stuff out there, like Magi, Yowamushi Pedal, Arslan Senki, Kekkai Sensen, Durarara, Baccano and many others…

5. Do you have have other hobbies aside from consuming anime/manga/LN/VN–or basically aside from Japanese visual goods?

I love Kendou…WAIT! This is also from Japan! Damn it! Hey! I watch Game of Thrones and Daredevil! Those are not Japanese, right?

6. What part of Japan do you love the most?

Never visited Japan in my life, but I naturally would love to visit Akihabara, and then some rural area to relax for a little bit.

7. Are you certified an Otaku?

What? Well…I guess!

8. What Japanese food do like the most?

Yakisoba (too cliche?)

9. What are your Strategies in surviving School?

Try to make some friends (easier said than done, huh?)

10. Did someone introduced Anime to you? Explain.

No, I started watching on the TV by myself. It was my destiny!

My Nominations:

There are many great bloggers who I follow, but since Real Life is a bitch, I’ll nominate only those who are more likely to have the time and patience to answer questions and such:

1- WANABRAR – Gifs! Gifs everywhere! Ah! There’s also some good anime reviews for specific episodes!

2- Bubu-chan no Bouken – Lovely Anime Figures of all kinds…Well, there’s Izaya, too! He’s not lovely, though.

3- Hau~ Omochikaeri~! – The King of Eroges!

4- The Sun Rising Blog – For the Sunshine Award: The Sun Rising Blog! It just feels right! Animes, Games, Mangas and everything that’s hot in Japan in general!

My Questions:

Here’s a bunch of silly questions! Try to answer those if you dare!

1. What’s your favorite anime of all time?

2. What’s your favorite game of all time?

3. What is the weirdest game you’ve ever played?

4. Please, Master! Teach me how to do a Deadly Rave!

5. Tell me one of your guilty pleasures in life!

6. What is the correct way to pronounce “Giygas”?

7. The president has been kidnapped by ninjas. Are you a bad enough dude to rescue the president?

8. Quick! Say something super cool to make my blood boil!

9. Is there any curiosity or secret about your blog that almost no one knows?

10. What is the weirdest Search Engine Term people have ever used to find your blog? (You can check that on the “my-stats” part of your Admin page).

Thank you again! I hope everyone can have fun with this blog and other blogs as well! So long!

(Update 08/19/2015) Thank you, Jirayan, for nominating me as well! I really appreciate! Here are the answers to your questions:

1-Do you have a favorite manga, comic or anime series?

Hunter X Hunter!

2-If so, which one and why?

It’s such a deep story with a huge and interesting universe! I’ve already read and watched it many times, but it only keeps getting better! Now, if only the second name of this series wasn’t Hiatus X Hiatus…

3-If you play video games which console do you play the most?

Currenlty, my PS3! But I will probably shift my attention to my PS4 soon.

4-Who’s the better superhero, Batman, Superman or Spiderman?

Batman, because as long as he have the resources and time to prepare time, he can beat anyone! Just kidding! Batman is cool, but I find Spiderman to be slightly more interesting

5-What’s your favorite blog post and why?

The 2nd part in my series of posts about Ar Nosurge. It was my 1st time doing something like a time-line, and as I organized the events connecting this game with its Visual Novel prequel and with the Ar Tonelico series, I started to notice a bunch of interesting points about the plot that I overlooked at the first time.

6-Is there something regarding your blog, that you would improve?

The position and the space between stuff.

7-Which upcoming video game are you looking forward to?

Too many! Take a look at my wanted list at the right side of the blog.

8-Do you plan on seeing the next Star Wars film?

Yes! It looks fun!

  1. I haven’t been posting in awhile, but I have read your recent reviews (very funny, by the way! It’s definitely a way to see if maybe the games are worth buying or at least checking out gameplay footage of-I use Niconicodouga for that…..hilarious, that they have Super Heroine Chronicle on there…oh GOD….people actually liked it?! But, when I went to Amazon, typicals said it was such a great game, while most, like me, said that it was utter garbage, a mere and disgusting kusoge aimed at “creepy otaku”….aaaaaanyways! *lol*) and they are very good! Recently, I picked up Natsuiro High School Seishun Hakusho and I loved it (Panty Shot Love Adventure Game, lmao…I got the ending for the American cheerleader from Florida named Naomi Thunders, which unlocked her Avvie Mode, where you get to do dress up with your chosen girl, and move her all around the screen, putting her in different poses, as well as taking her out to shoot naughty pics, selecting which place to go in the game. I still need t get endings and avvies of at least 5-6 more girls, but one is already done out for you, your childhood friend Megu (didn’t get her ending yet, though, it won’t be hard, as she IMMEDIATELY latches onto you during your arrival at Yumegashima!). Later, I decided that after Natsuiro, which is an adventure game, I would check out some other adventure games as well, so I picked up Little Busters, Rui wa Tomo wo Yobu, and White Album. These all are very well done and I’m loving them so far. Just need to find time to play through them all! I see your reviews as a very good tool to read before I buy, to make sure that you aren’t getting cheated out of your cash, I do that with a lot of game reviews as well. Everytime I go to my PSN, I hesitate and sample the game and read about it before I decide to purchase it, although very minor, I also check how many trophies each game has, more trophies the better, eh?! There are a nice set of trophies for these three, as well as Natsuiro and I have 30% of them in that game, it is a pretty nice and fun game and you are able to do any damn thing you want regardless of good or bad, it’s not like a game over screen will stop you! Well, I don’t want to have you reading a huge-ass essay about my nerdish gaming so I’ll try my best to answer the following questions as honest as possible (and for fun! *lol*), okay here goes!

    1. What’s your favorite anime of all time?
Sailor Moon, hands down. My very first anime as a teen in the 90s (oh the wonderful 90s!)

    2. What’s your favorite game of all time?
I almost thought that this would be a very hard question to answer, as I have a TON of games on a huge array of different consoles that I love! Tales of Phantasia Narikiri Dungeon X-two games on one UMD *PSP*

    3. What is the weirdest game you’ve ever played?
LSD. That game is weird as fuck, what the fuck do you DO in it?!

    4. Please, Master! Teach me how to do a Deadly Rave!
    ?! *lol*

    5. Tell me one of your guilty pleasures in life!
    haw haw haw haw haw….!

    6. What is the correct way to pronounce “Giygas”?
    (*Gee-goo?*)

    7. The president has been kidnapped by ninjas. Are you a bad enough dude to rescue the president?
    Uhhhh, maybe, lol.

    8. Quick! Say something super cool to make my blood boil!
    Can’t think of nuffins, lol.

    9. Is there any curiosity or secret about your blog that almost no one knows?
My blog is as dry as the Sahara…. 😦

    10. What is the weirdest Search Engine Term people have ever used to find your blog? (You can check that on the “my-stats” part of your Admin page).
Never encountered any recently, Google is probably one of the stupidest, though, due to constant crashes and having to *kill* pages, due to not responding…x_x

Thanks! It was fun! Super Duper Seriously Apologize for the huge post…I do indeed love writing but dayum, son! Chill with the huge posts! 😛 Take care! ^_^

    • Hello and thank you for answering those questions! And as always: Thank you for reading our blogs. Very soon I’ll shamelessly review Natsuiro High School too, so stay tuned for that!

  2. I also wanted to give this a try as well:

    1. When did you start blogging? Explain more in detailed:

It was probably more than a few years ago, but that blog sucked so bad that it was forever lost in the ancient Sands of Time. Good riddance. 😛

    2. What anime you will watch this coming Summer 2015?

Not quite sure yet, it is so hard to balance anime and games, LOL. 😉

    3. Can you suggest me more Anime, Otaku, Japanese Blogs that I can Follow? (I only followed a few blogs yet including you guys 😦 )

Not sure of any but I really like yours and your game reviews! 🙂

    4. Is there any Anime can you suggest me? (Maybe there Animes that I still not yet discovered :3 )

Cream Lemon. Give it a look. It’s an 80s anime series that touches on short stories (a lot of them not related, but deals with fantasy, sci-fi, school life, love and romance, and…loli…)…uhhh…well, regardless, it is a very good series and I really highly recommend it. Not to worry, though, for an 80s series, it is rather tame!

    5. Do you have have other hobbies aside from consuming anime/manga/LN/VN–or basically aside from Japanese visual goods?

Lots and lots of music, the 70s and the 80s, as well as 90s, errrr, writing my own stories which never ever get completed (hell, I also create characters for the stories,it turns out that I’m better at creating characters than writing the stories that they would be in. I’m very descriptive of my characters, down to the clothes that they wear, etc, wow…)

    6. What part of Japan do you love the most?

Doesn’t matter. I never been there at all, but I wouldn’t mind traveling there at least once! Of course, Tokyo and Akihabara would be the places I first go to.

    7. Are you certified an Otaku?

Even if the name Otaku is not very well received in Japan, then hell freaking yeah!

    8. What Japanese food do you like the most?

Beef Teriyaki, Miso Soup, Fried Yakisoba, and Karaage-Japanese fried chicken (tastes a HELLUVA lot better than KFC’s SHIT, but then again, ANY fried chicken tastes better than KFC’s, even Popeye’s and Church’s!). Sorry, for me, it isn’t just one kind of food that I like, hahahaha! 😀

    9. What are your Strategies in surviving School?

Definitely the friends part, and perhaps, but certainly not required, a gaarufurendo, like in the Japanese dating simulation games (TokiMemo, I’m looking at you!).

    10. Did someone introduced Anime to you? Explain.

Nope, just me. Actually, I…*accidently* introduced myself to anime via reading comic book magazines that I read as a teen in the 90s (Wizard and Hero Illustrated).

  4. Since nobody cared to ask good old (very old) Ed anything, I am going to pretend at least gangrelion named me for his questions. We are friends after all…

    1. What’s your favorite anime of all time?
Hunter X Hunter. It’s great action, smart writing and very outside the box while not really going away from its style. It is so good that every boring thing ever gets super cool in it: Dodge-ball, auctions, chess…

    2. What’s your favorite game of all time?
Brace youself, it is not a japanese game… My favorite game is Portal. Hands down my favorite game. I love game design and Portal is an awesome example of design, so I love it.

    3. What is the weirdest game you’ve ever played?
    Pepsiman.

    4. Please, Master! Teach me how to do a Deadly Rave.
    There are many legendary ways to perform a Deadly Rave. My favorite is QCB-forward + A, A, A, B, B, B, C, C, C, QCB + C.

    5. Tell me one of your guilty pleasures in life!
Watching old and cheesy horror movies from 80’s.

    6. What is the correct way to pronounce “Giygas”?
    Gay-gas.

    7. The president has been kidnapped by ninjas. Are you a bad enough dude to rescue the president?

    I’m BAD!!

    8. Quick! Say something super cool to make my blood boil!
You believe I cannot pray with a single arm? A prayer comes from the heart!!

    9. Is there any curiosity or secret about your blog that almost no one knows?
If you scroll your mouse over the images of Otaku Overdrive’s posts, you will find something cool that a lot of readers have never noticed.

    10. What is the weirdest Search Engine Term people have ever used to find your blog? (You can check that on the “my-stats” part of your Admin page).
Well, we (disturbingly)had multiple people searching No Game No Life’s Shiro feets. Then again, lolis…
