The Most Obscure Japanese Tropes

There are many elements and paterns and can only find on animes, mangas, light novels and specially on games like Galges and Visual novels. Therefore, it’s difficult to compare Japanese works with other “normal” non-Japanese material. After all, Japanese people can be very weird on a daily basis. That’s why I made this list with “The Most Obscure Japanese Tropes”.

Work in Progress. Feel free to add suggestions and make corrections.

Absolute Command – tropes06A girl comes inside a room where she set her eyes on a very suggestive scene involving two individuals of the opposite sex. Her immediate reaction is to look towards the male with an incriminating glare and say: “Do a seiza, right now!” Without a second thought, the male will obey her order as it was by some type of mind-control. He will humbly try to explain what happened but, even though this “accuser” came only half-trough the situation and couldn’t possibly know any better, she will not believe anything, charging the male for being a pervert (the female is always considered innocent, though) and will give the second order: “ask for forgiveness by doing a dogeza, hurry!”. The male – losing all faith on himself – will obey without any complaints. This is part of the Sadism fetish, as well as the “Hetare”, “Kawaii wa Seigi” and “Ineffective Threatening Aura” tropes, being one hell of a combo! (The reason for the scolding is not necessarily the same).

.

Aizen’s Gambit – trope-aizen1The villain tries to claim everything until now was just a part of his plan, even if this goes against everything established by the plot or even if it ruins all the story consistency. Everything for the sake of making the bad guy look intelligent when the author run out of ideas resulting on something more or less like this:

Everything to this point was just part of my plan, and until now, you were just a little puppet dancing while I pulled the strings! Your coming to my final lair, the death of my stronger soldiers, even my eminent defeat by your hands were just pieces in my great scheme! Yes! You could even say that your own existence was planned by me, as I always knew your parents would copulate to reach the final result that is you! Can you see now? Even the things that I couldn’t possibly know about were orchestrated by me! Are you impressed already? Ha! That’s right! You can imprison me, but little you know that I was counting on it…I can’t be outsmarted!

.

Bad Religion – tropes07God is evil and this is the absolute truth! It’s time to express this reality through many titles with a religious cult as villains! Let’s make God as a cruel and fake entity! It’s not like this is about a specific religion, but there are times where those fictional religions become quite similar to some vastly known ones from or world…Nah, I bet this is just coincidence!

.

Beauty Police – tropes08It seems there’s a very organized group of people who go around taking every ugly person away to a very dark place, so they can never be seen again. The result can be noticed by looking at a crowd from an anime, manga or game. Everyone there has perfect measures and symmetric bodies. It seems like a city full of teenager models and celebrities. Thank you so much, Beauty Police!

.

Best-Friend – Sextet04The main character is limited to just one single friend. This said “friend” is a dork who does nothing but making himself look like a retarded on heat. He proceeds to hit on any girl in the story and just ends up being humiliated. The true purpose behind such a character is to make the protagonist look good in comparison. Specially if the protagonist sucks.

.

Brocon Imouto (Sister with Brother Complex) – tropes18A promise made during childhood, the purest period in their life. So much yet to know, and even so, the love of a life-time was already set as a newborn imprinting it’s mother. From that point forward, that love would last forever…for the sister, at least, as it turns out only her sees this as a big deal. The brother, on the other hand, is a jerk bastard who is completely indifferent towards this. Hell! He usually doesn’t even remember the whole thing! Poor sister! It gets even worst when you find out she is cursed to love only her brother for the rest of her life, even if he rejects her!

C

.

Club Activities (Bukatsu) – tropes35Much like the Seitokai, this is just one more pretext to have a place where cute girls could use their pretty school uniforms while not doing something boring like homeroom. It wouldn’t be much different if they were to be involved on a real and objective club activity, that’s why the club usually has no clear purpose, leaving the characters free to do whatever they want. One easy way to deceive the viewer into thinking the club has a clear objective is to make it like a “mercenary guild”, so they don’t need to be bonded with just one kind of event.

.

Cultural Sponge – tropes09Any character that goes to other country, even if for just a while, has enough time to become a specialist at any art, activity, technique or anything they have to offer. On the other hand, this doesn’t mean they are masters in the arts from their home countries. Even if they have lived all their lives on Japan, they will never learn Karate or Kendo. Hell! They don’t even know Kanji properly! Once they reach another country, they will automatically find the best teachers available, it’s like they are lined-up just outside the airport. It’s also funny to notice they didn’t need to make a trip to all those distant lands, since they also could learn those same things on their home-town with masters that are as good as those from abroad. Maybe if they disguised themselves as tourists, they could learn more about their own country…

D

.

Demotivational Characters –  kimikishi03There is something important in the story, like a very hard mission or a over-complex secret, and the main character takes it pretty seriously, but someone else comes out of nowhere and solves it in a casually manner, making everything end up looking way too simplistic and leaving you to wonder just what was the freaking point of everything until now…

.

Disgusting Dad (Oyabaka) – tropes36A heroine’s father is often someone who has deep love for his daughter…a really profound, serious and sick love. This kind of thing can be as awkward as a relationship between brothers and sisters. But the thing is, the protagonist is usually a brother, but rarely a father. This leaves the role for sub-characters, who are depicted as very disgusting and pathetic fools who just won’t stop harassing their daughters. There can be some tiny variations to it. Regardless, those fathers are always disgusting!

E

.

Economic Theme Song – akabanzu04It takes too much talent to compose and sing a decent song, but since we already have plenty of voice actress with cute voices, we can always pay extra for them to sing an opening or ending theme. It won’t cost much, since it’s not like they are professional singers or anything. So what if they can’t sing all that well? We just pay for every seiyuu in the cast to sing together, so their voices can blend with one another and hide their lack of aptitude.

.

Engrish – tropes10Most Japanese people have perfect english, you just don’t wakaranderstand it! Ok, let’s be honest: Japanese people SUCK at English! The great majority is unable to even point the difference between Bruce Lee and a Blue Tree (is there even such a thing?). But why? I talked with many teachers about this subject, and it seems they really teach A LOT of wrong stuff on school while believing it’s correct! Aparently, English was passed to them wrongly on purpouse since the very beginning! Just like Wimp Lo’s Kung-Fu!

.

EX-All-Girls School – tropes37An All-girls School that just changed to a co-ed school for whatever reason . This is obviously just a plot-device to have lots of cute girls and almost no men around, with the exception of the protagonist, of course! This means it’s like the whole school is one giant harem. However, the plot usually goes about how there are differences between female and male students, because all the girls just have to act like bitches for no apparent reason. Nonetheless, it always end the same way: Lot’s of lucky-sukebe scenes and icha-rabu!

.

Exclusive to Girls – tropes11There’s a really extraordinary supernatural ability and it’s users can determinate the destiny of the whole world. However, for reasons unknown to everyone, only cute young girls are able to use those fantastic skills. The most popular excuse is to blame everything on the chromosomes. Damn all “X”s and “Y”s!

F

.

F.A.G. (First Antagonist Gang) – tropes12v2Every main character needs to show off his/her prowers right from the get go, therefore, what better method than to use a underdog, someone who is destined to lose from the start. But why have just one guy? Let’s make a whole Gang be crushed by the protagonist. After all, those guys are just a bunch of F.A.G.s anyway! That way, it will show to everyone who is boss…at least for the first episode…

.

Fake Loli – tropes13This is the perfect answers to those who tried to prohibit little girls on Japanese works: Never-aging little girls! Those lolis are hybrids who combine the best of both worlds. They are middle age woman who keep a body and mind of a child. A illegal body in a legal age? They are invincible!

.

Familiar New World  – arnosurge06The world where the story is set was supposed to be on a new, unexplored land. It should be a place full of wonders never before witnessed by humanity. However, people are using kimonos while eating ramen with chopsticks and they arm themselves with Katanas… It’s pretty much Japan, but with a funny name instead. Why does this happens? Probably the author didn’t make his homework, so he doesn’t know much about other cultures and geography, so, out of his laziness, it’s better to simply use his homeland as the basis for this “unknown world”.

.

Female Successor – tropes14Usually, in an epilogue, the protagonist has a child with the woman he loves. In that case, it will always be a girl. After all, we must think on the possibility of sequels, where we can have the daughter clinging to her father and saying she loves him and want to get married to him when she grows up. You know! Those things every girl says to their fathers during their childhood. This can even lead to new romances! We could never do that if the protagonist had a son, could we?

.

Feminist Planet – tropes15The world setting is all about females, as they are the only prominent members of society, this is if there’s even men around. In the case where the male gender does exist, their number will be very limited, with the number of women for each men being about 10/1. The few males are pretty worthless, while women excel at everything. Sometimes, it even gets to the point where important historic figures have to go through the wonders of gender bender. You would think this to be a scenario portraying a more fair society for women, where they would finally be free of sexism. Ironically, it’s just the opposite, as women in power naturally means bikini parties and lots of cat-fights with ripping clothes.

.

Flash Animated Opening – tropes38Hey! It cost lots of money and time to create animations, so you should be more reasonable at developers when they decide to go with the much cheaper and simple flash animation. Almost anyone could learn how to do a decent flash animation in a short amount of time and it saves a lot of money. Since most stories that use those are romantic comedies, it’s not like the characters would be doing complicated movements during the opening, anyway. It just has to show the cute girls doing sexy poses, maybe one bouncy or two. And then, you have it! The result is something that looks like an anime, but not quite the same. Since it’s flash, we usually get just hair movement or winks.

.

FOR GREAT (evil) JUSTICE! – tropes16If you happen to see someone who claims to be doing something for the “greater good” while giving a sinister grin or releasing a maniac laugh, chances are this person probably isn’t working for the forces of good. Just a hunch…
G

.

Good Times With Demons – tropes17We Japanese people hate religion, angels, faith, gods and everything. But do you know what we love? DEMONS! They are the best! Demon girls sure are sexy and innocent. Demons give such great heroes! Definitely an example to follow! We should name most of our works with words such as “demon”, “devil”, “dark”, “hell”, and “anything that is evil”.

H

.

Happy Harem of Convenience – rootharem23There is this lucky bastard who have many girls willing to start a serious relationship with him. Now he is feeling very indecisive and confuse. With this many drama and conflicts, what can he possibly do? Who should he choose? Hey, I know! What about choosing everyone?! Yeah, why not? Of course he can have as many relationships he wants! Everyone will be happier if he answer to everyone’s feelings together. And then, they all can get along just fine, together on the bed. Because, as long it has one single male involved, it’s the purest of any relationship! After all, it’s not like he is a woman or something!

.

Hetare – moteyaba12The person is a weakling, coward, immature, idiot, insensitive, unskilled, with terrible social skills and unremarkable visual. Not only a Hetare is uncapable to solve it’s own problems, but ends up causing even more trouble for everyone around., and never makes up for it. In the end, A Hetare is only able to go on living thanks to the sacrifice of many others. A complete human waste…but, at least, he is “really kind”! This certainly is “protagonist material”!

I

.

Indifferent Friends – CG220AFriends who don’t give a damn about whatever you do! They probably do so with the best of intentions, just to make everything as convenient as possible for you. However, this end up backfiring, as it actually feels like no one cares about the most difficult choices you’ve done in your entire life! Let’s say you have this Harem full of girls who have been in love with you since forever. They would die and kill for you, so it makes you think that if you choose just one among them, Hell would break loose, but it seems they don’t feel much about it and just say “congratulations” to you. Now, isn’t that sweet? A little odd, maybe, but at least, everyone is happy, right? Oh! And if the girl you choose just happens to be your blood-related sister? Will they react negatively about your bizarre relationship? Will they be disgusted with the thought of how disfigured your future children might be? Will they get creeped out by the mere sight of you and your sister licking each other? Nah! In fact, they will probably say something like “it was about time!” or “we always thought you guys made a great couple!” God Damn! Give me some drama! Why everything has to be so happy? Better yet: How is everything and everyone so happy? This freaks me out instead! It’s like I was transported into a parallel dimension where everyone lost their emotions!

.

Ineffective Threatening Aura – tropes05Back In my time, the cuter you were the harder was for you to be intimidating. Things seem to have become backwards nowadays. When a little girl wants to impose fear into someone, she just has to smile and that person will forever be traumatized… At least on the Japanese fictional world. Even though most Japanese works try to put you in the shoes of the main character, indifference is the only thing you feel when a cute little girl tries to intimidate you with her Moe glare. It usually goes like this:

Hey! Don’t look now, but there is this super cute little girl with a body so fragile that it’s about to break in half by a gust of wind and she is looking directly towards you while smiling! No, you dense bastard! She is not flirting you! She is trying to intimidate you! What? “Why should I be afraid of this infant” you ask? Well, now that you put in that way, it’s really feels kind of lame…

.

Kawaii Kara Yurusu (You’re Cute, So I Forgive You) – tropes01A great disaster kill thousands of people and the after effects come in form of a disease that makes the survivor suffer even more before their inevitable death. We already know the culprit behind everything. She did this for no good reason and hasn’t shown any bit of regret, but it turns out she is a cute girl! We can’t possibly condemn such an adorable little lady, so we have to forgive her! However, the story would be completely different if it was an old woman or a man.

.

Kawaii wa Seigi (Cuteness is Justice) – tropes20v2In stories where your selling point is cute girls, you can’t just have them showing any kind of weakness. This would make them only human, and that’s the complete opposite of what we are aiming for, right? Who cares if they never had any kind of training? Their lovely figures should be more than enough to make for the lack of experience! I bet those poor mortals who wasted their time practicing their whole life will not mind to have a complete amateur obliterating them! So what if it doesn’t make sense that they possesses such capabilities? It doesn’t matter that they tiny bodies would not withstand all this power. We are not studding physics here! We are making art!
L

.

Lesbian Groupie – tropes21If there is a reliable, beautiful and athletic girl, she most likely will have a little admirer, someone who will be following her wherever she goes. This someone will call her “Onee-sama” and will act as she have sexual attraction for the admirable lady…In fact, she probably have lewd fantasies about her Onee-sama all the time. This stalker will also do everything in her powers to kill anyone who dares to get too close to the source of her devotion, even if the victims were not really interested on the poor Onee-sama. Those little followers are sure to be very annoying and noisy and will get in the way of any possible development involving the big sis they love so much…

M

.

Me Cute, Me talks in The Third Person – tropes22v2Because when Hulk talks like this, it means Hulk is very dumb. But this be because Hulk is huge, ugly and have penis! If Hulk be pretty girl, Hulk get even more very cute than before by saying own name all the time! But Hulk not cute girl so, Hulk sad!

.

My Mother can’t be this Cute – tropes23Do you mother just happens to have the looks to be around your age? What’s more, is she beautiful? And I mean: REALLY Beautiful!! Like: M.I.L.F. levels! No? How odd, this seems so normal on nowadays Japanese works…

N

.

New-Age Style – tropes34In this ever-changing world of entertainment, there’s no place for old concepts. So old ideas like “ninjas using clothes that blend with the scenario” or “legendary monsters that look like the monsters from legends” just don’t cut anymore. What we need nowadays is impact! Like computers! They represent our actual era, so let’s say that “magic is actually just a computer program and you have to download new spells”. Even though magic was always a counterpart for modern technology. This is pretty much taking an idea and changing it so much that it looks the complete opposite of what it should be. Just remember that “what you see is NOT what you get”.

O

.

Ojou-sama Route – tropes39The protagonist falls in love with an elegant girl from a rich family, but it so happens she was way out of his league, as her parents don’t approve their relationship and force her to study abroad or/and to marry the heir of a powerful family. With no other option, the girl decide to comply with her parents demands and even comes to personally reject her ex-lover (what a bitch!), but it’s found out later this was just to protect the protagonist (what a bitch!). Being unable to hold the pain from being left alone any longer, the hero decides to go after the heroine to amend things, but many obstacles get on his way. Thankfully, he is assisted by many friends, some are even in love with him, while others are his rivals in love. Nevertheless, they just couldn’t turn a blind eye for this matter. After many struggles, they finally reach the place where the heroine is together with her “fiancé”. A showdown between the hero and the rich boy takes place to decide, once and for all, who is the best man, and it turns out the arranged groom is a huge jack-ass. After utterly defeating this ass-hole, the heroine finally is rejoined with her loved one. “The heroine’s father just can’t let go off his lovely daughter”, but the mother is very liberal and convinces her husband to accept their daughter’s feelings (by force, if necessary). The two live happily ever after. The End!

.

Onee-san Forever – tropes24There is no such a thing as an old female human! They will be forever young ladies. Maybe they think they came from the planet Zeist, because they believe they just can’t grow old! Not just that, they can’t accept even the idea of being called “aunt” (oba-san). They will kill someone who even thinks about calling them that.

.

Oppai is Life – tropes25Everyone on Japan seems to love big breasts. This is not limited to men. Women will make use of anything to make their tits bigger. They will get offended for being reminded of their lack of bust and will envy their neighbors with boobs bigger than their own, even when their breasts are already pretty big. It reaches the point where they just can’t help themselves from groping the breasts of others. It seems big breasts are never too big.

.

Osananajimi (Childhood friend) – tropes26The typical childhood friend who is destined to be forever a part of your life, just because of a silly promise made with your little fingers. It seems that, when you less expect, everything is already set in stone and there’s no escape from it.

P

.

Princess from the Distant Kingdom of Whatever – tropes40There are times where the typical ojou-sama gets too boring, so they just get replaced with a princess…even if the plot takes place on our present time. But how do you follow that idea on a stage where monarchy is almost extinct? The answer is simple: We just say it’s a princess from a really tiny and unknown country. There are LOTS of little nations with all kinds of weird traditions around our world anyway, so you can never say for sure there isn’t a royal family Goldenwet from the country of Pissland…

.

Pseudo-Innocence – timepiece03Girls have to remain pure, or they would look like mere whores, and nobody would be interested on girls that attack men all of a sudden seeking for sex, right? They have to, at least, act a bit embarrassed first. After a little while, they are free to copulate as much as they want. It can feel a bit out-of-character but, you shouldn’t care so much for such little details. This is one of the so-called “adult circumstances”.

Q

R

.

Reverse Trap – tropes28Just like the name suggest, this is the opposite of a trap. In other words: A girl who disguises herself as a man. However, do not underestimate the power of the reverse trap. On recent works, it’s much more difficult to recognize a reverse trap than a regular trap… At least for the characters. They NEVER find out, but the viewer notice the true gender of a reverse trap at first sight. Actually, the viewer don’t even think it was to be a reverse trap until someone spells it during some event.

.

Ridiculous Poses – tropes29There are occasions where developers receive the orders to make their characters very sexy and vivid, but they don’t have much opportunity to animate them, for this reason, they have to draw still-images that gives a lot of “motion” and “emotion” with a single frame. Similar to the case with the “Terrible Fashion Sense”, there’s also the problem those artists don’t have the slightest idea how a girl behaves, so this results on female characters that use their breasts as tables, keep their hands extended to the air and never close their mouths. Those characters seem to feel very uncomfortable…

School Life – ALIASCARNIVAL16Space-vampires from another dimension are trying to destroy the Earth, and you will be fighting them for the next 3 years of your life. It will be a long battle and you have much to learn, so there’s no time to waste! You have to go to school and you’re already late for your first day! Now, go and make some friends and love interests while you are into it! Don’t forget about the cultural festivals and it doesn’t matter if the Earth could explode tomorrow, there’s always time for the sport’s festival! Hey! Are you already prepared for Valentine’s day? Ah! But don’t forget that we will be going on a trip to Kiyoto next week, so you have to prepare while you take care of your club activities. School life really is lots of fun, right? Hunm? What are those “space-vampires” you’re talking about?”

In most Japanese works, there is a “necessity” to make stories about school life. Even when it’s not aimed at teenagers. So, why is this so important? Probably because this was the happiest moment during their life. Maybe it was also a period full of regret, and they wish to imagine another possibility…one full of cute girls with giant boobs crazily in love with them and magical powers. Usually, the school part becomes so important that they lose focus and forget what the story was about at first.

.

Seitokai – tropes30The group who should be all about boring administrative school work, but somehow, their daily-life is full of surprises and adventures! The members are mostly composed of girls, but they can sometimes forgive the existence of a single male member (even though he doesn’t do much). The most important thing is that the president has to be a girl! This is hard to change!

.

Silly Happy Dance – gashdance2Girls are cute, dancing girls are even cuter, so it would be a good idea to include something like this at the animated intro or, at least, the ending. Even though we don’t have the slightest idea why they are dancing…

.

Superficial Intelligence – tropes19v2What do you do when you want to create a character that is much smarter than yourself? It’s simple: You just have to make everyone around this character to be really stupid. That way, it will surely look like this character has unparalleled intelligence, right? What? This is not enough? In that case you just need to search for some overly complicated words on the dictionary for this character to use, because everyone knows that geniuses are always using “obnoxious blabbery”…See? Didn’t I sound like a scientist now?

T

.

Terrible Fashion Sense – Sextet02We know most people involved on the development of games and animes that focus on cute girls are not actually girls. Naturally, they not only have an inexistent knowledge about fashion, but their lack of common sense goes against any expectation. This gives us female characters that wear a clown getup as their “casual clothes”. School uniforms make them look like an ancient doll and swimsuits are “just a little” too bold. In other words: No real girl would dress up like that.

.

The Girl – tropes31Until recently, your life have been that of an ordinary guy. It was when a certain girl appeared out of nowhere to save you from danger. Since then, she became your portal to a new world full of supernatural danger, adventures, fights and romance. She will be deeply involved with you and, most likely, will start to live with you below the same roof. You can pretty much say that everything that happens with you from this point on, both bad and good, is thanks to her. So, yeah! You could say she not only saved your life, but she actually became the essence of your own existence. She is THE ONE!

.

They Have to Bleed – tropes32Be it an adult and experienced women whose age is over 30 or even if it’s about a girl with a horrible past where she was treated as a sex toy. It really doesn’t matter! Every girl has to be kept clean and pure until her first sexual relation with the protagonist, during which they show bleed as proof of their purity. Therefore, it’s unacceptable for them to have sex or even have a normal friendly relationship with other males! This obviously means she is not permitted to have had a boyfriend in the past, even if it was a very brief relationship and nothing happened between the two. This is because their feelings have to always remain pure. As such, it would be very dirty and vulgar to have affection for someone else (who is not the protagonist)! But, if this is about a male character, it’s a completely different story! They can get all they want.

U

V

.

Violent Girl –tropes27
Nowadays, there’s almost always a crazy bitch of a character who goes around torturing the protagonist in every way possible, but you should be convinced she is just shy and that is her way to say “I love you”. Worst yet: After all that abuse, you have to take on the fact that everything she did worked in the end, as she will become the protagonist’s lover, which makes you think the guy must the some kind of masochist.

W

.

We Love our Weapons of Mass Destruction – tropes33Hey! Do you remember that special power/experimental weapon/mythical creature we just discovered the other day? Don’t you think we should give them to little children? It will be lots of fun! Don’t worry! No one will get hurt with those explosions, they will just play with each other. Maybe we should give them ranks, levels and titles! I am sure they will not become competitive or anything! What? Of course the government will approve! Why wouldn’t them?

  1. I’m so glad the school setting is just a Japanese trope, because I’ve always found it really depressing. For so many characters in so many stories, the school is their life. They won’t see each other after that, they’ll abandon their precious clubs and lose the positions in the school hierarchy that define them. True love happens only in middle or high school.

When you set up a world like that, and then make time fly so you can cram all the special days and holiday events, ending the story at their graduation, to me it’s like telling a story where every character is doomed from the start. They might as well have an incurable disease that will kill them after 3 years. It always leaves me with a sour taste (and I know that’s often completely intentional).

    • You can see examples of mangas where the story actually continues after their graduation, like K-ON and Lucky Star, but no one cares about it from that point on. Thankfully, those mangakas already had a back-up plan, with the second generation of school girls to get in the place of the former heroines.

  2. Another awesome page. Hardly obscure to those who get around their anime/manga/novels/games, but quite “lol Japanese” nonetheless. I may be back with suggestions when I think of them. This one from TVTropes is pretty widespread even in media outside Japan, but I love the name of it: Conservation of Ninjutsu.

  4. >“magic is actually just a computer program and you have to download new spells”
Were you thinking of a specific work when you made this example?

Also LOL’d at the precision of the ojou-sama route.

    • I think the first time I’ve saw this was on Scrapped Princess (even though there was no “download” yet), I think a popular example nowadays would be the BlazBlue series, there is also the Ar Tonelico/Ar Nosurge series. This concept to treat magic like a system you can hack into or reprogram it is something I am kinda tired to see. It’s almost everywhere. I kinda miss the time it was just old latin words from an old book…

      • Mahouka Koukou (first episode of the anime just came out) is pretty much this trope, I think. But I recently read some of a manga called Greed Packet Unlimited where the characters literally download and use “magic packets” through their mobile phones, at exorbitant prices charged by the phone companies. Actually, even the imouto was downloaded…

      • I have high expectations for Mahouka Koukou, just for how cool the protagonist is, but the whole magical-science concept is nothing original and I’ve seen being executed better. Thankfully, I find the characters interesting enough to make up for it!
Never heard about this Greed Packet before, but it sounds really crazy!
